Here's some information regarding the Atlanta project at Fields Chapel Cemetery. I'm posting this on behalf of Dawn Paulson, who led that team.
The team (L-R): Jackie Groves, Margaret Cherrie, Ali Miller, Dawn Paulson, Amy Dixon, Lori Suwalski and Shay Cummings
Ali Miller, Margaret Cherrie, Lori Suwalski, Jackie Groves and Amy Dixon did a wonderful job of raking and cleaning gravesites. I used the gas weedeater, as well as cleaned the headstones and picked up faded flowers.
We are pleased to report that we did quite a bit of improvement to Fields Chapel Cemetery. The threat of rain didn't stop us in our mission to improve a majority of the headstones.
Shay Cummings was a mad woman with a pair of loppers (beware everyone), and she managed to single-handedly lop just about every bush and shrub in the cemetery.
Some of us walked away unscathed, while others received blisters on their hands and feet, ant bites, and one in particular received poison ivy. I think we all had a really good time, and we all connected with this project. Once you've worked in a cemetery, you do feel ownership, and it's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.
